February 15 – We have found a new location for training: Absolute Personal Fitness, at 12364 W Alameda Parkway #105, in Lakewood. To start, we are holding practices there on Tuesdays from 5-6:30pm. This place is in addition to our other location at the Denver Federal Center.
December 11 – The Dojo held a kyu exam, and Tanya Sazonova was promoted to the rank of Nikkyu. Great job, Tanya!
November 4 – Boulder Dojo hosted a visitor from Israel, Tamar Silver, for a special practice. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a lunch hosted by the Wilsons. There we heard about Tamar’s journey with her husband and children across North America and on to Mexico and points further south.
March 21 – Due to COVID-19, Boulder Dojo is suspending practices until further notice, however you can join weekly practices at Pam’s Virtual Dojo on Facebook and also check out her video series Karate at Home, Alone.
January 12 – Pam Logan joins Boulder alumnus Phil Morgan at a special memorial practice in Seattle honoring a Pacific Northwest area black belt who passed away.
November 3 – Jeffrey Ross attends a practice in California for fifth-degree black belts, the highest level awarded in SKA.
August 10-11 – Pam Logan in Pasadena, California for SKA’s 63rd Annual Nisei Week Exhibition and Tournament and for a special practice led by Mr. Yasunori Ono, visiting Shihan from Japan.
June 5-8 – Jeffrey Ross attends Summer Special Training East in Amherst, Massachusetts.
May 21 – Boulder Dojo hosting Gilead Sher, godan, a guest instructor from Israel.
May – Pam Logan and brown belt Tatiana Sazonova establish a satellite dojo at the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood.
April 27-28 – Jeffrey Ross attends “Spring in the South,” an event in Durham, NC that featured advanced instruction by Godan Ray Berry.
April 6-8 – Pam Logan is guest instructor at the dojos in Salt Lake City, UT and Richland, WA.
March 16 — Pam Logan is a guest instructor at Whittier Dojo and Cal State Long Beach Dojo, both in southern California.
February 10 – Jeffrey Ross joins SKA black belts from around the US and Canada at an advanced class at the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo in California.
January 20 – Brown belt Sophia Model completes her third Special Training. She was honored with a spot in the middle of the circle during the 90-minute kibadachi (horse stance) practice. Kudos to Sophia!
November 11 – Alisa Model, age 14, takes a Kyu examination and earns her brown belt. Her sister Sophia, age 17, earned the rank ikkyu, the highest level of brown belt. Congratulations to both!
October 20-21 – Boulder Dojo hosts visiting senior godan Mark Kohagura for a series of advanced practices. For this special event we were joined by members of our sister dojos in Kansas City and Phoenix.
August 5 – Boulder dojo members Jeffrey Ross, Mark Wilson and Pam Logan joined karate-ka from around the world to celebrate the 88th birthday of SKA’s founder, Tsutomu Ohshima. Former Boulderites Steve Bankes, Phil Morgan, and Mark Kohagura were also present.
June 13-17 — Pam Logan, Alex Kogan, and Sophia Model attend West Summer Special Training in California while Jeffrey Ross attends East Summer Special Training in Massachusetts.
May 5-6 – Pam Logan visits Kansas City Dojo to teach two self-defense classes and a black belt practice
